approach

In order to reflect the music of Meredith Monk, I first had to listen to her voice through many repeats to grasp any hint of idea that comes to mind. Concepts of shapes and keywords relating to the music were noted down. Taking inspiration from the theme of the album (nature) and the main instrument, the human voice as its center.

I knew I wanted to represent the organic, harmonic, and variations of the vocals. With that in mind, a colorful watercolor path was created to represent the interlacing voice. A serif typeface was chosen to reflect the nature theme of the album, as the terminal of the R resembles the organic shape of a plant.

OUTCOME

The final outcome creates a warm interlacing colours visuals that represents the complexity and variety of the human voice.
