MOTION DESING - OP ART

Brief

A promotional motion video, featuring Julian Stanczak exhibition at the MAC museum.

introduction

Julian Stanczak is a polish born american artist who centers his work around the relationship of shapes and colour. As he would say β€œTo capture the metamorphoses – the continuous changing of form and circumstance – is the eternal challenge and, when achieved, it offers a sense of totality, order, and repose. Color is abstract, universal – yet personal and private in experience."

approach

My inspiration comes from how the artist wants to capture the relationship between colours and shapes. In order to reflect that in the motion, I first created shapes, inspired by his work and placed them in its composition and imagined how the shapes would move about like a choreographed dancing performance. I incorporated and played around with the opacity of the shapes to showcase the relationship between shapes and colours.

The process was very detail oriented as I wanted to make the transition from one to another a smooth experience for the users however choreographing the shapes to another took some time to produce in quality.

outcome

The outcome creates an interlacing layers of shapes and colours producing an interesting and dynamic moving composition.
